Installing Checkin
If there is a previous version of the program, you must first uninstall it.
Uninstall previous version
-
See if there is a CmsCheckin shortcut on the desktop, that is your indicator that there is an existing program that needs to be uninstalled.
-
Goto the Control Panel -> Programs and Features and find Check-In
-
Choose that and click UnInstall link or button
-
This will remove the CmsCheckin shortcut on the desktop too.
Install the new version
-
You can find it here.
-
There are possibly several versions on this page. Choose the latest version that is not beta (unless you have been instructed otherwise)
-
Then you can unzip the document
-
Note you may need to enter a password if you have been given one.
-
There will be two files: an .exe and an .msi file.
-
Extract them to somewhere on your machine.
-
Run the setup.exe program.
-
If you have already installed this before it should go very quickly, follow the prompts.
-
If you have not installed before, it will take about 20 minutes to download and install the .NET Framework
-
Verify that it installed correctly by running the program.
-
If you see the startup dialog, it has installed correctly.
-
Click the red x to close it.
-
If you see a full screen phone number pad, you can close the software with Alt-F4.
-
You can safely remove the zip, and setup.exe and msi files now.
See the Hardware List for specific label printers, etc.
