The is now only one liink on the BVCMS login page: forgot password? Below is a brief explanation of how this works. Read more about Accounts and Passwords.
We have improved the way the Forgot Password link works. Because passwords were previously getting set by the system as two random words separated by a period, most users would want to change the password to something they would remember. Now when you click Forgot Password, if you enter the correct Username or email address, the system will send you a link which allows you to create the new password right there. Then, by clicking the BVCMS logo, you are logged in and on your Homepage. This will be so much easier and faster and will be just as secure. The link will be a one-use only link and will expire if not used within 24 hours. NOTE: If you click the link and do not set your password then, you will not be able to use the link again. That counts as the one-click use.
Because you can both log in and reset your password using the email address that is on your record in BVCMS, we no longer need a Forgot Username link. When you cick Forgot Password, if you do not remember your username, you can enter your email address. The email that you will receive to reset your password will also contain your username..
NOTE: If you are not receiving the email when you click Forgot Password, that is in indication that we do not have that email address in the system or the email has gone into your spam or junk folder. Please contact your church's BVCMS system administrator if you have problems.
We will not tell you on the screen that we cannot find your email address or username when your click Forgot Password, because we do not want anyone to be able to change your password except you. If we told you that information when you use these tools, it would give the bad guys information they could use to hack into our system.
