What about Key FOB scanner support?

We do not have the capability of a scanner to check-in children. Our experience is that providing that option takes longer and is far more trouble. We have actually used these in several situations and they were never a good experience. Yes they have some cool factor but too much trouble and pain as well. The reason is that you have to associate the key FOB with a person's record. This takes time, and people will always be losing their key FOB, forgetting it, wanting to use different ones, etc. So when you offer this type of capability, you are bound to take up precious time during a very hectic time already. Not a good idea. Furthermore, people will forget or misplace their key fob so at a minimum you have to allow them to search by phone number. Turns out the phone number search is extremely fast. It takes about three seconds at most to enter a phone number, everybody knows how to do that. Consequently, we have decided that this support is not necessary or even desirable.

Finally, this is much more cost effective for the ministry since you do not have to purchase extra scanners (one for each kiosk) and figure out how and where to mount the thing, nor do you have to purchase expensive key FOB printers and the key FOB material itself.

All that said, we would be happy to entertain any church that wanted to invest in this feature and sponsor the development of it.
